When this letter is useful

At The Letter Pilot, we see a lot of these letters sent out, so we put together a standard template you can copy with one click and edit. Most commonly, we see them sent to landlords for rental applications or to lenders when someone is buying a big-ticket item like a house or car. The recipient may also ask for pay stubs or its own verification form.

Frequently asked questions

Does an employment verification letter have to include salary?

Not every request needs salary. When a lender needs income information, they may ask for pay stubs or W-2 forms.

Is this the same as a reference letter or job offer?

No. A verification letter confirms employment facts.

Will this work for a mortgage, rental application, or immigration request?

Only if the recipient accepts it and it includes their required information. They may also ask for recent pay stubs, W-2 forms, or other supporting documents.

Does the letter need to be notarized?

Check the recipient’s instructions before arranging notarization. This template does not include a notarial certificate or assume that one is required.
