Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Certified Mail take to deliver?

Certified Mail travels via First-Class Mail service, typically 1–5 business days. Actual timing depends on distance and USPS processing.

What happens if no one is available to sign?

If no one is available to sign, USPS leaves a notice and offers redelivery or pickup. USPS may leave a follow-up notice, and items are generally held up to 15 days before being returned if unclaimed.

What does ERR provide?

A digital receipt with delivery date/time, address, and when available, the recipient’s signature—emailed as a PDF for your records.

How do your fees relate to USPS fees?

Our service fee covers preparation, printing, and handling. USPS extra-service fees (e.g., Certified, ERR, Restricted Delivery) and First-Class postage are added at checkout and pass through at current USPS rates.

Do I need Return Receipt or can I send Certified Mail without it?

Yes—you can send Certified Mail without Return Receipt. You'll still receive a proof of mailing and delivery scans. Choose Electronic Return Receipt (ERR) or the green card (PS Form 3811) if you need a signed receipt.

What does "return receipt requested" mean?

It means you want proof of delivery with recipient details. You can choose the digital option—Electronic Return Receipt (ERR)—or the paper green card (PS Form 3811).

Is a signature always required for Certified Mail?

Certified Mail typically includes a signature required on delivery; Restricted Delivery ensures the addressee signs. When USPS completes delivery without a signature, you still receive delivery details (and ERR shows the delivery event).

How much does Certified Mail cost?

Your total cost = USPS Certified Mail extra-service fee + optional Return Receipt fee + First-Class postage + our service fee. USPS fees change periodically; our checkout reflects current rates.

Can I send Certified Mail to a P.O. Box?

Yes. USPS places a delivery notice in the P.O. Box and holds the item for pickup with signature. Tracking shows attempts and pickup. Add Electronic Return Receipt (ERR) if you need a PDF receipt.

USPS fees shown reflect updates effective July 13, 2025. Always subject to change by USPS.
