How much does a PO Box cost in 2026?

USPS PO Box rental prices range from $31 to $677 for six months, depending on the box size and location. A small Size 2 box costs $41 to $225 for six months.

Unfortunately, USPS does not charge one set nationwide price. Each Post Office is assigned a fee group based on its location and other criteria, so prices fluctuate from one area to another.

How much is a PO Box per month?

If you’re working out a monthly budget, here’s what the six-month prices above come to when divided by six. These are monthly equivalents, not month-to-month rental plans.

Monthly PO Box cost equivalents based on six-month rental prices
Box sizeMonthly equivalent
Extra Small (Size 1)$5.17–$28.33
Small (Size 2)$6.83–$37.50
Medium (Size 3)$10.00–$65.83
Large (Size 4)$15.00–$75.33
Extra Large (Size 5)$26.00–$112.83

USPS charges upfront for 3, 6, or 12 months, not one month at a time. The 3-month option requires automatic renewal. These figures are rounded to the nearest cent and exclude key deposits and other fees; a different rental term can change the monthly equivalent.

Most locations offer 24/7 PO Box access. Check your local Post Office for its hours, Street Addressing options, and exact prices.

  • Most Post Offices offer 24-hour access to the PO Box lobby

Cons

  • Prices and available box sizes vary considerably by location
  • UPS and FedEx cannot deliver to a standard PO Box unless the location offers Street Addressing
  • Some banks, government forms, and business registrations will not accept a PO Box as your physical address

How much does a UPS Store mailbox cost?

The UPS Store does not publish one national mailbox price. Most locations are independently owned franchises and set their own rates. The stores we found with prices posted online charge about $30 to $45 per month, depending on the mailbox size. Setup fees, keys and additional names may cost extra. A UPS Store mailbox gives you a street mailing address and accepts deliveries from USPS, UPS, FedEx and other carriers. Some USPS locations also accept UPS and FedEx packages through Street Addressing, but not all locations offer it. Check with your local Post Office before choosing a box.
